The Fwvga is a group of volunteer gardeners dedicated to restoring and maintaining the historic, formal Italian gardens of the Frederick W. Vanderbilt Historic Site. The Fwvga is celebrating its 20th anniversary in 2004.

The Institute of Ecosystem Studies does research and education on local, regional and global ecosystems. Free public attractions include display gardens, tropical greenhouse and walking trails.
The Bayou Gourd Society is a group of individuals interested in gourds. We meet bi-monthly and discuss gourd growing and gourd crafting. Our group participates in two shows per year and at our meetings we take field trips and have special gourd crafting demonstrations.
Silvis Garden Club is a non-profit group sponsored by the Silvis Playground and Recreation Board. 'Friendship and Education through Gardening' is the theme. Members are Master Gardeners and Novices. Club members focus on education and community beautification.
