Garden Court Community Garden

Location:   47th & Spruce Sts,   Philadelphia,   PA

We have 21 10 X 10 plots for community gardeners. For children of the K-8 school across the street we have 15 double tires, so that 2 children can share; also a larger school garden in a courtyard behind the school.

Charitable, Educational

Programs:
The Past President of the Garden works with teachers at the K-8 School across the street to garden with children. Pumpkins, Indian corn and Kentucky Wonder beans and flowers are favorites.

Membership/Dues:
Dues are $5 per year plus donations; also $5 is put down for the key to the garden. Community Gardeners also helped construct the School Garden last spring ('99).

Meetings/Conventions:
Two work days per year are part of the membership, also removal of trash: each person takes turns. Also care of the outer garden which is maintained as a pleasant view for passersby. Children from Lea School also helped with a big clean up
